Sabre's temperament was what I call "ideal" for an obedience dog. He had a strong will to please, but had a gentle side to him that didn't challenge me much. He loved toys and rough play, so it was extremely easy to get him "up" in the ring. He was so playful and the close bond I shared with him, made his training a delight! He also had that "go along with anything" temperament, so he was more than willing to try anything I asked of him.
Sabre earned his "CD" title very easily and his "CDX" almost as fast.....5 trials and he was done! He was Canada's #1 Boxer in 2002!" We had hoped to attain his "OTCH" in the years to come, but that was not meant to be, when we lost him at 8 years of age. Sabre had accomplished so much in his lifetime, so his CDX obedience title was a nice bonus for us!
Probably the most rewarding showing was when he did brace obedience with his son "Trouble". They are two intact breeding males and didn't have any "aggressive" concerns being tied up with each other to do a Novice routine. It was SO priceless and I'm so glad we have it on video as well!
What a pleasure it was to own such a verstatile Boxer with a temperament perfect for any ring!!
